Grilling Goodness

Hello all!! Welcome back for your weekly dose of Goodness!!

1. Do you prefer to write with pen or pencil?

I love to actually hand write letters. It was many years in our old house that I wrote at least one card a day. Often several. The correspondence desk was right by the front door. I was on very personable terms with the mail carrier. The bos was just on the other side of the glass. We would waive at each other.

1986

When we first bought the house, we lived there 16 years

We ourselves put on a new roof and it was really a much different house

The old estate was donned "Bird Haven Manor". Fancy, yes , but to me It was paradise. The calligraphy pens were my preference. Unfortunately I tore my right hand back at the thumb when Dove was an infant, then again when Dash was a baby I fell with him in arms and had to extend that same right hand to guard his sweet little head from hitting a foot stool. It again was sprained back at full extension. It was and is still tender sometimes. I have never had the same skill again. It caused my beautiful cursive writing to wane.

2. What was off limits to you growing up that you do all the time now?

Touch books. My step dad would NEVER allow me to touch his books. Now I will touch a book as much as I read it. Oft times I just stroke my Bible when I pray. It is the thing that can make learning on line less intimate to me. I Love to handle my books.

3. What is the age difference between you and your spouse?

He is three years and four months my senior.

4. Did you hurt yourself in anyway this week?

Yes, I neglected to tend to my feet. I ignored myself and then my feet had had enough and split open. I was shopping limping and then looks down to see my left foot was bleeding. I did a pedicure in the afternoon and humbly took care of my beautiful feet. Last night I was lame (literally) both feet split and raw. I sat on the sofa and rubbed healing moisture into my feet. I did nothing all evening but sit and nurture my soul/souls :)

5. Do you like wallpaper enough to hang it in your home?

absolutely! I have hung a full house before at the manor. Now I was actually thinking about it just an hour or so ago. Funny that question. I have some of the fabric from the manors dining room. A friend was over recently and offered me a whole bolt of it! She had it the same exact print! So I may do the great room (dining/ living room) in it

6. What do you need to do that you've been putting off?

Get a hair cut and do my hair coloring. I have the coloring , but I just have so many things to do I have not allowed it to bubble to the priority level.

7. What did you do this week that you wish you hadn't?

I told Dash to "shut Up!", I was praying about it this morning. I will be speaking to him about it tonight. I got way too tired and interrupted too many times with petty fight that I wish I would of handled like this..."you go tell your sister for yourself...when you are rough with my toys I do not want to let you keep them"...

but alas...I fell on my face. Now it is a big slice of humble pie that I will share with my boy this evening:) Teaching by bad e example turned into a good example.

8. Did anything keep you up late this week?

Yes! Rena the Golden had a tummy ache I think? She was in and out all night long! She has slept outside last night for we are not willing to do this every night. She is aging and needs to go potty often. Poor thing, but it is the life of a dog, and she is not suffering heat or cold outside.

Older women likewise teach the younger women...

• how to love their husbands
• how to love their children
• how to be self-controlled
• how to be pure
• how to be keepers at home
• how to be kind and submissive (not subservient) to their own husbands. (See Titus 2:3-5)

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
That a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean living,'
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain...
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Words have power. Here are a few of my favorite sayings.

  • A warm cup of tea is like a cuddle with a friend.
  • The North American Indians have a more eloquent word for ‘friend’ than we do in English. In their language, the word for friend literally means, “the one who carries my sorrows on his back.”
  • Return with Honor
  • The sage anticipates things that are difficult while they are easy, and does things that would become great while they are small. All difficult things in the world are sure to arise from a previous state in which they were easy, and all great things from one in which they were small. Therefore the sage, while he never does what is great, is able on that account to accomplish the greatest things."
  • "HOME IS WHERE YOUR STORY BEGINS"
  • “Live so that when your children hear these words they think of you… Fairness Caring Integrity Honesty Love Trust.”
  • "O Lord help my words to be gracious and tender today, for tomarrow I may have to eat them."
  • "No man has ever been shot while doing the dishes"
