On Being a good neighbor

Tonight I was chilling and reading the list of free stuff on craigs list. An add was on there that said to come to help stuff all sorts of stuff with the address on the leader line. It was including images of belongings with the house photo as well.
I called 911 for the add had come up only 15 minutes prior.
An officer called me back. Thanked me the family was being set up. A vendetta or prank. Within moments up an add like that can generate 50 responders on the way to the house in a frenzy.

The police were able to intervene and the home owner was alerted.

It felt so good when the officer told me thanks, and that my call had saved a family many issues. The add acted as if everything was for the taking. Imagine looking out your window to see vehicles coming and the folks getting out to strip your property and make the way inside. NEVER take anything without owner approval! ever.
Folks of common sense will know this but as we all know that is not to common now a days.

Thankful Thursday/Friday and Saturday

Life is filled with beauty.
My gardens will be filled with more beauty for beauty is so important.
Important enough to to place it before our eyes as a constant. Now whether or not we stop to notice it?...well, my eyes have beheld a good amount of it this week.

Thursday thankfulness is full of new acquaintances. Again funny, yes on Craigs list a relationship has sparked with a woman who was giving flower seed away! When I called her it had been taken. She however had plenty. So we are doing a seed swap! All set up to receive seed to may varieties long on my wish list. ALL FREE save for the little kindness it cost to reach out.

Now Thursday was a busy morning here. Shirts to iron, breakfast to make. Upon awakening the water was running I walked in on Dash
Told Dove that her shirt was terrible wrinkled. The kids helped get all set and the time was made for me to iron it. She was so cute. I saw a flash. She had my camera. Surprise. Early morning face. Not much different than how I normally look.
Except tired. The pup had a painful night so I kept a long watch on him.

She turned the camera on herself. This is what I have the honor to look at during my two hour mom mornings. She is so kind. She is really a dear heart. Her color palate has been widening. Bless God she even had NO black on at all today. This all black stuff makes me think of goth. I hate goth! Living dead.

So a single mom was building a shed. She needed vents. These have been sitting in our garage for a while. They were for the chicken coop. Met up another acquaintance. She a single mom of two autistic kids. She looked up my blog and then emailed me asking if we might get to know each other. She just moved here from Ca. so we may have tea together.

Friday was picture day at the kids school. My Dove asked me to do her hair! Boy was I in mom heaven! So many many years I had only dreams of moments like those. She was so happy for the necklace she has on is one she gets a repeated NO when she begs to use it. I heard in my spirit to trust and offer her to use it on this special occasion. Worked out she had forgotten her lunch. I took the necklace home after I took her lunch to to her.

Look fast Grandma, she has a dress on! Oh she looked so pretty. She did have her adorable black high top tenny shoes on though. A little 'girl' is enough to do for her. It was so fun.

Of course Dash needed a hair cut on Thursday evening. He is so hard sometimes with his sensory stuff. I felt like clobbering him the night before. All in all I was able to give him a good cut. Not perfect but pretty good for having to use my large sheers because the hair cutting scissors are missing. So is my cutting  instruction manual.

So you wonder what I have been up to?
Grid is set for the garden as well as the time line.
Seeds at the ready except for the free ones coming.

The measurements taken out front and at the arbor under the master bedroom window. This is my method. Click on the image and you will see.
Color and height marked as well as vital statistics.
The front is broken down into many zones. shade, semi shade, oasis, and transitional. As too better utilize the water and cost the least to water.

All plots and sections are packaged together. In height order as well for the floral seeds. Notes taken at study as to soil prep, needs and schedules.

Well the peas got in today

This is the cucumber bed. Straw mulched.
With chives to protect them from insects.
Mixed broadcast radish of three types to the left over by the umbrella in image.

Those extra new to me hoses that were given to me some time back... I set up the mist sprayer for the two beds here and the pea bed as well. Now there is no need to drag hose. They get heavy when full of water. This also feeds to the canopy covered plants.

A lot more work to do yet.
That bench that was given me.. Well a new place to rest. It fit just as if it were made for the space. Speaking of making, I will make some seasonal pillow covers and have a sweet place to be. When gardening with visitors they will sit here. This will also be my meditation/prayer refuge amidst all of the things I so love. The living.

Speaking of the living things I so love...
I was in the front near the table on the porch, I saw something out of the corner of my eye as I was noting the measurements of the flower beds. I held real still. Then again right near my leg. Not 4 inches from my leg at ankle height ... a Anna Humming bird. She just drank from the vine at my feet. Then she came right up to my face only about 10 inches away looked me eye to eye.
It was so holy!
Kept me at balance all day.

After soaking all night the peas were planted this afternoon as the estate settled down

The Happy Hens gave an outstanding ovation to the 70* night.
Talk about being glad it is fall.

It was a 5 egg day!
Miss my Prissy girl, she was a real good laying hen.
We awoke this morning jumping right out of our skin when ol' lab of mine let it be well known that we had the workers had come. All those years of rotten 'tree guys landscapers' my prayers were answered by a neighbors referral. The fellow ( a palm specialist) called up his friend who is an arborist. Bonefide Master Arborist
He removed the old dead Queen Ann palm and this amazing fellow up in tree treated this magnificent specimen with the dignity and respect any beautiful healthy tree deserves.

I am delighted!

He is so beautiful!

So Dove is off to a sleep over, say a prayer. This is a big one for me. She and three others will be going to a skate rink. Very iffy for me. I still am calling to make sure a parent is staying.
Just can't take anything for granted now days.
Daddy man just took Dash over to fetch a darling little soul. This little one who came home from Russia just a little while after Dash. They are life long friends, we all are.
So a quiet calm house with a delightful cool AC

Looking to the future with great anticipation of being overwhelmed with the beauty that surrounds me.
Faith the substance for things hoped for and not yet seen.

These and many more to come.

My Sweet Lab had a real tough day

We we able to get the Maricopa Snap Voucher. It saved us $85. A five year old dog is a bit much to get under and work on.
My Boy was set to be neutered.
To our surprise and to his consternation when we went to get him he had been castrated.
Now for the sake of not being too crude suffice it to say he lost a pound of flesh today.
He is like a child now for a week! I am to keep vigil over him as to avoid complications. This was a much more extensive operation than we had been quoted on but NO extra charge. This will keep our lab much healthier throughout his life. They even did his nails no charge.
I will need to keep care over him. Letting him out and in and trying to keep the lamps on the tables.
That cone is a humiliation! An indignity! He thought he could just have all the indignity a dog could stand! Oh no they had to put this thing on me!

Sweet lab ( I do not use my dogs names on line) would not let me out of touch range for two hours tonight. We stayed together in a quiet office. Every time I would move my toes he would just lean over into them. He had to be touching me the whole while. He would begin to thrash if any one came in or near. Simply by placing my hand on him he would calm right back down.
He is asleep now and I slipped out of the room.
He is such a loyal friend. Right there any and every time I am ill or having an infusion. He knows when I am ill. He also watches out for our other dog. He points illness as a hound does a fox.

post script...he would not have it! he is now at my feet in here resting. He really just needs me right near him. Think I might just have a long night. My calender is clear the whole week. He has to keep the cone on 7 days and pain meds every 24 hours. like a kid i tell ya

Yellow Bells From Heavens Hand

cant help but trust they will survive and thrive

During the hot summer months came by my way a wonderful Sunset SW planting volume. This plant stood out as one on my dream list of 'some day'. The day was today. On Craig's list they were free. A greater gift however was to come. As I was loading three of the six up in the truck another woman pulled up with a car.
See the high lighted plant in the book.
It was highlighted and I remember saying to Abba. I don't know how we could buy it but it sure would be cool if...
She asked do you live near here? On the affirmative we spoke of children we both have 6th graders in the same school. She just transferring from the school they closed. I had her load the others and followed her to her home. She was in a car and had thought the plants were small. No way for her to have received them and get them home. She was so thankful. We both have so many things in common. Grinding our own meat, I making and she selling jewelery. It was really funny.
So a new friend was made. She was invited for tea. She is new to our country relatively. Speaks very Middle Eastern dialect broken English. She said as she welcomed me in to her home. I am a Christian. Smiling I spoke how I love God with all my heart soul and mind. I am one too. We smiled.
She had the most beautiful iconic images on her wall. We spoke of the wonderful images in Russia. She also has a good friend who is from Russia.
What fun.
My daughter actually knows her daughter..."every one is always saying how beautiful she is, and C. this and C that..."
Small small world.
All for a simple act of generosity (the trees) kindness and hospitality.

Meal Plan Monday

This was a sweet morning. Dash and I walked our lab around the block after Daddy man was off to work lunch in tow. The kids wake now independently. YA!!!
This gives us plenty of time to get ready and then be together.
WE aggravated each other before they were off to the bus stop.har har

To be finished after school.

I'm listening to some sweet JOHN DENVER music.

 Monday is laundry day
Finally got a good process going now week after week.
It is so wonderful to have my strength back.
I'll need it for the kitchen saw little attention with the full weekend.
Dishes were neglected.

Dove won a water bottle with a candy bar in it for helping so much with the bus evacuation drill on Friday. I am so proud of her. This girl is so thoughtful of other kids. A real kind heart of a kid. Makes me feel real good about my example.
Laundry is being hung out and the morning is agreeable. Not too hat this morning. Fall is teasing us. We get a good hour of cool (all things relative) in the morning.

Our lawn has come back and thriving pretty well. Soon I'll feed it and in a month or so toss the winter rye. So good to see the summer lawn thrive. Beloved mowed while I cleaned the coop when we got home yesterday. We were so hot and sweaty we figured we would push ourselves a little more.

We got together and moved the compost of chicken and straw one compost barrel and started a pile as to be better able to turn it. It will be right there in the garden too.

Lots of work to do out here this week.
Soil needs to be turned so the seeds can get in.
 Speaking of work...
This all needs to get gone.
Craig's list get this all cleaned up!
 Try something new...
boiled water with Anis, use some cheese cloth the strain it.
If you like licorice you'll love it!
Well my cup is empty and the dishes have soaked some.
Better get up my 45 minute break is over.

Speaking of breaks some things here have broken free and I feel awesome!
Clean hands pure heart!

Older women likewise teach the younger women...

• how to love their husbands
• how to love their children
• how to be self-controlled
• how to be pure
• how to be keepers at home
• how to be kind and submissive (not subservient) to their own husbands. (See Titus 2:3-5)

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
That a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean living,'
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain...
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Words have power. Here are a few of my favorite sayings.

  • A warm cup of tea is like a cuddle with a friend.
  • The North American Indians have a more eloquent word for ‘friend’ than we do in English. In their language, the word for friend literally means, “the one who carries my sorrows on his back.”
  • Return with Honor
  • The sage anticipates things that are difficult while they are easy, and does things that would become great while they are small. All difficult things in the world are sure to arise from a previous state in which they were easy, and all great things from one in which they were small. Therefore the sage, while he never does what is great, is able on that account to accomplish the greatest things."
  • “Live so that when your children hear these words they think of you… Fairness Caring Integrity Honesty Love Trust.”
  • "O Lord help my words to be gracious and tender today, for tomarrow I may have to eat them."
  • "No man has ever been shot while doing the dishes"
