Oh Nuts!, and seeds. Preservation and storage

Texas Walnut (Littleleaf Walnut, Nogalito)

We eat a lot of raw nuts and seeds here at this uncommon estate. When they are purchased it is in bulk. Nuts have natural oils that can go rancid. It is important to keep them fresh. The large jars are frozen. The smaller containers are for the kitchen refrigerator and are refilled weekly. This is a way to keep eye on the amounts and variety used. The rectangles store nicely on a shelf.

Annette said...: There is only one nut I can not stand and thats walnuts, I had every one at work convinsed I was allergic to them so when we had pot lucks they wouldnt add them to the goodies, now I just pick them out of things, so much work hahaha but I love all other nuts, especially in salads....and the I live with a handful of nuts too, at times they remind me of those icky walnuts but I dont pick them out, I sugar coat them hahahaha, I just had to throw that in, could resist~
