What happens when you do not have to pay for the shipping, manufacturing, employee benefits and salary...

Laundry soap at less than 1/2 cent per oz
.26 cent borax
.32 cent washing soda
1.29 Laundry soap bar...
Oh yes and 17 quart of water.....your own water...of course you do pay the water company a half cent perhaps if that...

grate the soap in the food processor, add to heated water and cook until melted.
Do not boil.

Set aside
1/2 cup of each
borax and washing soda

Add melted soap to bucket...
take to sink and add the powders stir and fill quickly with warm/hot water...

I had to use a mixer for the thickening of this brand of bar was fast and thick, I added another qt. water and used the hand mixer again. It is setting to see if I might not have to add more water.

I did not miss the fabric softener at all on the last batch. This is a coconut oil base bar soap up from Mexico. If it works well I will go get several more of them. The bars can be hard to find. Look at 1$ stores or in poorer neighborhoods.

32 oz x17qt (it thickened up so fast I had to add another quart of water)=544

.26
.36
1.29===1.91

544*1.91=.003511 cents per oz or

1 & 1/2 cents for 5 oz.
Perhaps a half hour of my time.
you can do it it is so easy!
This soap works better than any other brand I have ever purchased.
NO ALLERGY!
Need no fabric softener.
Ya think it might just be a fabric softener conspiracy?????/
no...they wouldn't do that...smirk!

Oh ya I did not have to shop or carry it home.
One shop for (borax)75oz box *by 4oz each batch =18 trips
Washing soda 55*4oz=13 trips
So what ya say buy a box of each, and it will last you a good year!
Then when you find the bars you like stock up!
So once a year get 5 bars of soap $5
One box borax $5
one box washing soda...$5
Do your laundry for $15. a year
:)

This batch has lasted several months (3?) yep last made February 8th, however this morning I found another jug that was left from then with a good two week worth in it.
so 15 weeks laundry for 4 for ...

That is 3 1/2 times a year I need to do this...cost
1.91 for 544 oz
1.62 for 313 oz

using the $39.07 model of savings that I have already improved on by dilution.
The first batch was a bit too thick.
it is a saving of
$136.75 a year in laundry soap alone!!!!!!!!

that is on the low side.
with only 4-5 hours labor

last time in February these were the numbers
Here is the cost ratio

$5. for a 75 oz box of Borax 75*4 oz per batch is 19 out of the box= .26 cents a batch
$5 for a 55 oz box of washing soda 55*4 oz per batch is 13 3/4 out of the box=.36 cents a batch
$1. bar of soap

$1.62 per batch of 313 oz that's
1/2 cent per oz!

$7.00 per 55 oz liquid equivalent =
.13 cents per oz!
that's 313 x's .13 = 40.70
less the $1.62
that's a 39.07 savings!!!!!!!!!
One hour of my time
I just got paid
39.07 for an hours worth of work!

post script.... it only took a half an hour this time.

Bed time reading for the sharp minded child

Hello
This is a new type of post for me for I am adding some hot links to items that might be refered to in my normal posts. When they are clicked on it is my hopes that I might be able to better assist my family with a little income as well. I will not add these links if I do not feel good about what the content is.

Now I understand my friends that I am in a learning curve so please forgive any errors on my part as I learn the process.

Any way, Dash is not a child to be board at bedtime with stories that do not feed his imagination. You must also know that the Daddy man has read to our kids from day one. EVERY night with Dad now it is going on 10 years. Daddy Man has a gift of character drama in his story telling How I wish you could hear it.

Well yesterday a book of great volume sat on the table in the foyer. It was 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes'. The other day while watching an old episode of Star Trek it peaked interest for even good old Captain John Luke enjoyed the simulator of such.

Amazon is a good place to find a copy of it.

Good morning
This day was full of family chores and tasks. Lawn seed planted while children cleaned the dung up and hubby turned the compost. Now after a full family breakfast I rest a while. Thinking about some of my old post I got to reading them. This old post reminded me of things I wanted to hear myself. So here is a partial re post.
I hope you enjoy.
I am going to do my best to explain the things I am learning and just hope that folk don't misunderstand and think I am far from God.
Oh No we are just walking this thing out together.

Gods ways are higher than ours.
I have lived with some pretty non scriptural religious ideas of what I should be like or able to do.
Lord knows I did my very best to follow those ideas to the letter, trying to be a good believer.
Those Pharisee things that just don't much lift a finger to help really.
They become more of a thumb pressing down to keep you in check all the while that heart of yours is saying I'm a faking it tell I make it...I must be doing something wrong is the lie.
NO maybe ya just need some practical help to understand what stops your ability to do so.

It is my hope that the honesty and transparency will remove stigmas and assumptions from the "church" community as to what it might look like to become.
It is not by pure belief
WE HAVE TO WORK IT OUT FOLKS
Now if your working it out and ya think that folks...
other believers, might think your faith weak or less than do not let that stop you.
There are so many who lift that finger and add the hand reaching out to lift ya up.

You who do not know Christ
know this His love is not like those rulers who set lots of rules on folks and then sit back and condemn them when they do not think or pray or believe themselves out of their chains.
Loving Christians truly do add a heart not only full of prayer but also practical solutions that just perhaps nobody ever bothered to tell ya.
You speak up ask and if there is any shame placed on ya for doing so Dear Hearts just you shake it off.

His peace is within the storm.
This life is a storm that only He can calm the waters of.
When your strength gains up and the next gale blows know you did not cause it, there is a battle going on.
It has been against you from your first breadth, Satan-evil-darkness- the war began a long time before the beginning of time as we know it.
God wins, that's the good news the hard news is that you been on one side or the other.
Those folks who raised you were one one side or the other.
Even when on Gods side the trickster can so easily circumvent lives by simply twisting truth, lying so folk don't even know whats right from wrong.
So many casualties of childhood walking around in grown bodies just really trying to make folks proud.
Can't even find a safe place to risk being humble.
Left not even knowing who they were intended to be.
Feeling like you just really never belonged anywhere.
Stumbling at every mission you set your heart too because your wounds sabotage your efforts.
Leaving you feeling incompetent at life.
That is the intent, the mortal wound.

Hope this is always a safe place to be...
Hope that you can be yourself, unashamed, unabashed, true heart even if wrong willing to turn round right and come on down to where ya ought to be.

I am becoming free from battle scares of my childhood.
That does not make me a victim, a weak unbelieving Christian but a warrior for Christ.

tis' a gift to be simple tis' a gift to be free
tis' a gift to climb down where we ought to be
and when we find ourselves in the place just right
twill be in the valley of love and delight

ya know...?

Prevention is worth a pound of cure...its flu season.

Good Ideas for health care during the flu season.
Over at 'Farming on faith' suggested this

2 t lb ammonia
1/2 cup rubbing alcohol
1/4 cup vinegar
Place in a spray bottle and add water Use on surface, toilet, sink and such.

Another tip my elder sister has used for years is to use a LEMON cut in half rubbed on sink to bleach out the porcelain. She also uses it on the counter tops when the once a week wipe through down comes.

Add a little Cayenne pepper to your diet.

Wash hands as soon as you get in from shopping and such. Keep wipes in your car.
Use a inverted produce bag when choosing the produce you want. Once you have handled the store surface items this protects your produce from the bacteria on you hand.

70 mph storm went through my neighborhood

By the time the porch windows were opened and I walked into the bedroom the bed room windows were about to break

It went from 95* plus to 50* plus with 5-10 minutes
So yesterday I was praising God clapping thanking him for the rain as it began.

Well it rained harder and harder within a 2 minute time dumping!

The wind and rain were literally horizontal. Hail at the front door

running to the front door pouring!

 These are shots in sucession
watch the street

within a 5 minute time line

The water was white water. Thank God my home sits on high ground. I learned that yesterday.
This is at the end of my drive way. The rain stopped instantly.
 Looking up my street.
The homes of the other believers (Christians) on the other side of the street received VERY little damage if any. All around the community every 4th house or so had fell trees and roof damage.
We were fine only the tarp on the canopy received some tears in it.
We had just trimmed the big tree last weekend or so.

As I walked to the corner. White water.

That is my white truck to the left.

my truck to the right

the junction where the cross street merges 3 houses don the street

3 homes down from me

this is the bus stop corner

Looking up the street toward my home. My home is on the right 4houses up.

the middle of the street. Ya I know but I am adventurous like that

toward the north at the bus stop (kids school bus stop)

Walking home this corner house is across the street, one house at the diagonal.

my neighbor directly across she sustained minor roof dammage

Within 30 minutes we have amazing drainage on my street!

Please pray for my neighbor. She has surgery today. She only lost two roof tiles
This sweet Sister in Christ has a husband who is in full care home with Alzheimer's.
In the facility they have what is called Sun downers. They scream, band and throw things at night. Scares her poor in-cognoscente husband so bad he shakes. She is really hurting so bad.

My back yard, pea size hail. Up north it was gulf ball size.

flooded the back yard, no biggy.

hail under my windows

I took a drive around the neighborhood close by

down at the park well talk more about this later

oh these poor souls

ripped the center out of this tree. Some say it may have been a funnel cloud spotted

I went in and dried the window seals. For the first storm with the windows in the living room open only for 2 minutes and the wind hit that hard. It had even gotten into the window seal and the floor was wet. (minor)

So just an hour after the first storm I was talking to Steve on the phone...I told him "here it cames again!"
He said "surly it will be no big thing the big one passed"

this within one or two shutter flashes

This is the second river flow of the day...It happened one more time just after Steve got home from work just as bad again. Three in one days time less than a 5 hour window.
This door is very recesses and it got soaked. That how hard the wind was blowing.

this is the second time the corner flooded within an hour and a half

These guys that live down the street will have lots of work this week.

remember second time in less than two hours

The kids get home and the rain had stopped just for them for about 20 minutes We kids :) have to play in the rain. So after all the flood through you just know my streets are clean.
Steve gets home and a third time it hits. The kids play in the rain.
Over the week end we had filled our raft to sell it. No one called on it and it was filled in the garage. This raft takes a long time to fill. But there it was begging a fun time.

This is only 2-3 feet deep. The water retention field below the park.
They had a ball!

It was so funny Dove was singing some old Huckleberry Fin song
They were trying to row. Note they were just going in circles.

I love this shot!

Dove is a crazy kid!

They even had three mallard ducks join them

I turned around and note how fast the sky was blue again.
We had another rain over night. They say on average our little area had three inches in the afternoon. Thats not including what ever we had in the night. That retention lake was empty this morning. I really must hand it to the enginers who designed our neighborhood. The drainage was truly amazing.

All this and a good bit of adventure.
Our home....
NO DAMAGE!

Older women likewise teach the younger women...

• how to love their husbands
• how to love their children
• how to be self-controlled
• how to be pure
• how to be keepers at home
• how to be kind and submissive (not subservient) to their own husbands. (See Titus 2:3-5)

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
That a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean living,'
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain...
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Words have power. Here are a few of my favorite sayings.

  • A warm cup of tea is like a cuddle with a friend.
  • The North American Indians have a more eloquent word for ‘friend’ than we do in English. In their language, the word for friend literally means, “the one who carries my sorrows on his back.”
  • Return with Honor
  • The sage anticipates things that are difficult while they are easy, and does things that would become great while they are small. All difficult things in the world are sure to arise from a previous state in which they were easy, and all great things from one in which they were small. Therefore the sage, while he never does what is great, is able on that account to accomplish the greatest things."
  • "HOME IS WHERE YOUR STORY BEGINS"
  • “Live so that when your children hear these words they think of you… Fairness Caring Integrity Honesty Love Trust.”
  • "O Lord help my words to be gracious and tender today, for tomarrow I may have to eat them."
  • "No man has ever been shot while doing the dishes"
